Welcome to Wharfedale Research
It's time to discover your family history
Yorkshire based Wharfedale Research is dedicated to helping you discover more about your ancestry and your family’s history, wherever and whenever they lived out their lives.
Who were your ancestors? What were their names? Where did they live? How did they earn a living? Were they rich or poor? What part did they play in the two world wars? Did they emigrate abroad or arrive in the UK from elsewhere? Were family stories that passed down the generations actually true or just tall tales? These are some of the questions most of us have asked ourselves at one time or another but perhaps never found all of the answers.
If you’ve ever wondered about the life and times of your ancestors but not known where to start with your family tree, or your curiosity about your family history got you started but you’ve been struggling to make progress, I’m here to help.
With over 20 years’ experience, I've built up the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver thoroughly researched and documented outcomes. I've access to thousands of records held locally in the various archives throughout Yorkshire and numerous on-line data sources to provide a high quality, friendly, efficient service at competitive prices.
From obtaining a birth, marriage or death certificate, locating individuals and families in the census, parish and other historical records, delving into a house’s history and its previous occupants, through to tracing a full family tree across the decades, no project is too small or too much trouble.
I offer a free, no obligation, initial consultation to help you decide what to do next. If you go ahead and commission a research project, choose from fixed price packages or the bespoke service which can be tailored to meet your particular research objectives and budget.
There's also nothing quite like the thrill of discovering your ancestors for yourself, so I also offer advice on any aspect of genealogical research to help you make progress with your own project or, if you are a beginner, to help get you started out on the journey of discovering your family's past.
